BOSTON (AP) – The Boston Red Sox added outfielder Jarren Duran to their list of COVID-19 injured on Friday, bringing the team’s total to nine players who were added to the list within a week.
The Red Sox announced the move ahead of Friday night’s home game against the Cleveland Indians.
Manager Alex Cora said Friday that Duran was not feeling well and would not be with the team while he underwent the tests. The club announced a few hours later that Duran was added to the list, which has included infielder Kiké Hernández and Christian Arroyo on August 27 since Boston.
Cora said Hernández has felt better but is unlikely to return to the line-up this weekend. Arroyo could be back by the middle of next week and shortstop Xander Bogaerts, who was pulled from a game and added to the list on Tuesday, could return late next week, Cora said.
The pitchers Martín Pérez, Matt Barnes, Josh Taylor and Hirokazu Sawamura as well as infielder Yairo Muñoz were also put on the list this week.
