Ogden – Gloria Carol Jones Boren, 83, died peacefully on Saturday, December 4, 2021, as a result of a recent fall. Gloria was born on November 2, 1938 in Ogden, UT, to Elva Zina Rosdahl and Byron Jones.

Gloria lived in Eden until she was around 3 years old and then moved to Ogden with her parents and older brother Stanley Jones. As a young girl, some of her favorite pastimes were cycling, jumping rope, wearing jackets, and playing board games. In 1956 she graduated from Ben Lomond High School. She was a majorette in Ray Minter’s Drum and Bugle Corps for three years.

She attended Weber Junior College for a year. She married Arthur (Art) Boren on September 22, 1958. They had two sons. While Art served in the U.S. Army, they lived in Fort Ord and Fort Sill until his release in 1960. They returned to Ogden and lived most of their married life in Marriott-Slaterville. They were married for 48 years until he died on October 6, 2006. After his death, she lived in the Colonial Court apartments in downtown Ogden.

Gloria worked for Defense Depot Ogden for 4 years and then worked for the IRS as a tax auditor until she retired in 1995. After retiring, she and Art enjoyed traveling. They made an annual trip to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas for many years. After retiring, she enjoyed lunch with her IRS group. She was also a volunteer reading tutor at Dee Elementary School.

She liked to collect carousel horses, read and play board games. She was a huge Elvis fan and loved visiting Graceland. She loved baseball and basketball and was an avid Utah Jazz, Ogden Raptors, and WSU fan. Watching their sons and grandchildren play ball games and other activities was a popular pastime. She was the official statistician for the First United Methodist Church’s softball team for 28 years. She was a devoted member of Latter-day Saint Church of Jesus Christ and served as a visiting teacher.

Gloria leaves behind her sons Brad and Mitch (Brenda), grandchildren Alex (Jennifer) and Travis and great-granddaughter Lilian. Her brother Stanley (Susan) Jones also survived; Nephews David (Stacy), Matt, David (Staci) and Nathan; Niece Melanie (Tim) Davis. Her husband preceded in death; Parents; and stepfather Preston (Sandy) Sanders.

The family thanks the employees of Lotus Park Memory Care and Encompass Hospiz for the loving care.

The funeral will be held on Friday, December 10th at 11 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Friends can call the morgue on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Funeral, Myers Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd, Ogden.
