Meet the Hokies 2022: Ella Ciardullo

After running into the second round of the 2021 NCAA tournament, the Virginia Tech women’s soccer team is more than proud to welcome each and every member of their 2022 signing class as part of the next generation of their program-long family tradition. Over the coming weeks, Tech will be eager to roll out its newest class of Hokies as the program looks forward to its return to the field.

SCHWARZBURG – Ella Ciardullo is a six-foot attacker from Milton, Georgia, where she was named a finalist for Gatorade Player of the Year by Cambridge High School. An accomplished goalscorer there and at NTH Tophat (Atlanta, Georgia), she has the potential to resurrect Virignia Tech’s attack, which has seen a steady increase in scorers for each of the past five seasons.

“We are excited to welcome Ella to Virginia Tech,” said head coach Chugger Adair. “She was one of our first commits on our 2022 course, hiring her as a sophomore before NCAA rules changed.

“Ella has a lot of athleticism, a good football game, ball skills and the ability to score goals. We see that she plays a lot of different positions for us – both in the front and in the midfield. She has a very good creative mind for the game. We’re excited to have her as part of our Virginia Tech family! “

Ciardullo, a two-year varsity letter winner in Cambridge, led the Lady Bears to her very first appearance in the Georgia Class 6A State Championship Match (2021) and earned the Class 6A All-Region Second Team award while winning the school’s Offensive Player of the annual award. In May 2021, she was selected for the DiVarsity Georgia High School all-star soccer game after scoring 22 goals and nine assists during her junior campaign.

On the club scene, Ciardullo shone for three years at NTH Tophat, helping the club finish second nationally in the Girls’ Academy League and reach number 2 in the national rankings. She previously competed for Concorde Fire (Atlanta, Georgia) – the runner-up team in the Southeast region – and for the United Futbol Academy (Cumming, Georgia).

Ciardullo has individually found a place in the category Football in the top drawer IMG Top 150 and is also one of the top five players in their region. She is also part of the Georgia Olympic Development Program (ODP) and has attended the US National Training Center Combine.
