Australian Open 2022 live, Nick Kyrgios vs Liam Broady result, updates and start time: results, rankings, instagram, girlfriend

Nick Kyrgios has vowed to put on a show during the Australian Open – but not deliver “outrageous bulls***”, with Australia’s Livewire campaign set to begin on Tuesday night.

Kyrgios, ranked 115, will grace his beloved court at the John Cain Arena to take on British player Liam Broady, who is set to make his Australian Grand Slam debut.

Kyrgios only arrived in Melbourne on Sunday – via a private jet – alongside his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi after isolating with a pal due to a recent Covid diagnosis.

While waning interest in being a professional player has seen his ranking drop to 115, Kyrgios has the ability to deliver his best tennis without notice – epitomized by his exhilarating five-set win over Dominic Thiem last year year at Melbourne Park.

When asked how many AO campaigns he still had in him, Kyrgios told him Herald Sun: “I’m not Bernard Tomic, and I won’t give you outrageous bulls***.

“I’m going to be honest and say I’m going to soak up this AO any moment. I don’t know what I’ll be doing in a year.

“I know my personality, I know how unpredictable I feel, I know that I live spontaneously. I don’t know what I’ll be doing in a year.”

He added: “People are learning to respect what is just my personality. It may be unorthodox and unprofessional in some people’s eyes to live like this as an athlete, but that’s who I am. It’s a fun way to live. Spontaneously.

“At the end of my career, at the end of my life, no one can say I didn’t have fun and I didn’t do it my way.”

Kyrgios’ match with Broady at John Cain Arena begins just after 7pm (AEDT).
