If you are a wine lover, visiting Napa Valley is a top destination. But as the holiday is vino oriented it’s not really a place you would think to bring the kids. Unfortunately, many people have to do without the trip because of family obligations. That is until now. Before spring break season Carneros Resort & Spa in Napa just took off “Little Plants” program. so children can play and learn. At the same time, adults can fully enjoy the wine and amenities of the luxury resort.
While Napa is often considered an adults-only destination, Carneros welcomes families where children can experience fun and meaningful activities. Launching this month and running through spring, the offer is designed to inspire kids of all ages to get their hands dirty and connect with nature.
Younger guests can try nature drawings and natural color painting at the garden edge in collaboration with the di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art. The Little Green Thumb Tour also showcases the resort’s new culinary gardens, feeds chickens at the Chick-Inn and learns how to start your own culinary garden at home. Or sign the kids up for Palate Play, where the youngest foodies immerse themselves in a culinary journey of food and drink tastings featuring snacking favorites like PB&J, animal crackers and more.
These are designed to keep youngsters entertained for about four hours, while adults take time to themselves by enjoying a relaxing day at the spa (massages, facials, and more are all possible) or partaking in a wine tasting session. But of course, you can also just relax by the adult pool that overlooks Napa’s stunning vineyards, knowing the kids are having an equally fun experience. And the hotel offers free wellness classes for adults and children if you need a little more zen time.
Then, when it’s time to get back together, the hotel offers family activities. During the day everyone can splash around in their own family pool without worrying about disturbing other guests. You can also explore the resort grounds in the welcome scavenger hunt by solving clues and getting creative. Guests are rewarded with a prize after the scavenger hunt at The Market.
In the evenings you can sign up for a Cozy Cottage Night where the hotel hosts a good old fashioned games night with classic board games and delicious food. The night is then capped off with a S’Mores kit by the fireplace in the individual cabin and the backyard fire pit to curl up with an al fresco movie or stargazing.
Beyond the program, the accommodations in Carneros are also ideal for families. They have spacious two bedroom or three bedroom residences Houses which are fully furnished with gourmet kitchens, living rooms and private backyard gardens.
“Napa doesn’t have to be just an adults-only experience,” says General Manager Edward Costa. “Modern families are looking for experiences that enrich the whole family in engaging, hands-on ways that also provide opportunities to learn and grow—in this case, quite literally. The Little Seedlings program is designed to inspire our youngest guests with meaningful and educational experiences while adults can fully enjoy the charm and amenities of our luxury resort.”
