Pacific FC announced today that they have added another new face to their 2022 squad by signing England defender Nathan Mavila.
Mavila, 26, from Brixton, UK, is a household name to Canadian Premier League fans, having played for Cavalry FC in both the 2019 and 2020 seasons. He made 41 appearances for the Calgary club over two years, including both legs of the 2019 CPL Finals. Mavila scored three goals and added three assists under Tommy Wheeldon Jr.
After leaving Cavalry following the Iceland Games in 2020, Mavila briefly played for IK Brage in the second division of Sweden before joining Wingate & Finchley in seventh division English football.

Before landing in the CPL, Mavila played for various clubs in England’s lower leagues, having developed in the academy of Premier League club West Ham United. He represented a handful of teams including Maidstone United, Wealdstone and Hampton & Richmond Borough before heading to Canada.
“Nathan brings a lot of experience and character to our team,” said Pacific head coach James Merriman. “He’s a confident player, has good ball skills and complements how we want to play.”
Merriman added, “Nathan is driven, ambitious and we look forward to expanding our group.”
Primarily a left-back, Mavila is one of a few newcomers to Pacific’s 2022 squad under coach James Merriman, alongside the likes of Amer Didic, Abdul Wahid Binate and Djenairo Daniels.
The Tridents have now confirmed 17 players for their roster as they prepare to start their CPL title defense, which begins Sunday, March 10.
