The Asiato tapas bar in the Mission District is closing permanently on Saturday, however

In the tapas and cocktail bar, you can’t help but notice the sprawling comet mural from outer space Asian when driving through the Mission District near Potrero Avenue. But after 11 years of DJ dance nights, board games and artsy cocktails, Asiato will close for good after Saturday night, April 2nd.

But this is apparently not the end of the road for the Asiato team. According to the online event pages for Friday and Saturday night’s closing parties, Asiato will undergo a “transformation” and “rebranding” that will eventually result in “new operations.”

“Come out to say goodbye to Asiato!” wrote the bar and restaurant on a Facebook event page. “We loved our community and all the friends we made along the way. We will be cooking what is left in our fridges in preparation for the remodel/rebrand and new operation.”

The Friday night event is Funky First Friday with DJ Souldog (8 p.m.). Saturdays It’s an event entry for the Wrap Final Party notes, “We have two wrap parties this weekend. Come and get your last piece of Asiato (most of the furniture is also for sale!). Also, you need one last Asiato burger.”

The Asiato is open on both evenings from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

“There will be some food for sale and a lot of food being distributed for all to enjoy,” the event page reads. “Lots of Kill the Bottle specials too! We hope to see you on April 1st or 2nd (or both!).”

Saturday’s event post adds: “THIS NIGHT we will be putting price tags on the furniture and you can come and buy a small piece of Asiato to take home.”

Hoodline received no response to our inquiry about what’s in store for the promised revamp and rebrand, but there are some clues in a Facebook post from owner Debi Cohn.

“We will breathe new life into our beloved space,” she wrote. ” A new partner for daily operations and a new concept that is friendlier to live music.”

“It’s time for a new dream to become a reality,” she added. “I had my 11 years of solo ownership and everyday life. I look forward to going to other people’s events.”

But if you’re an Asiato fan, Friday and Saturday nights are your last chance to go out her events. That is, until the new chapter of space begins.

Asiato’s “It’s a Wrap Final Night!” parties are Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2 at 2730 21st Street (on Bryant Street); 5:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m
