Marvel’s Midnight Suns will be mixing superheroes with XCOM this October

Marvel’s Midnight Suns, an upcoming tactical RPG from Civilization and XCOM developer Firaxis, finally has a release date and a new cinematic trailer.

In Midnight Suns, you take control of a cast of customizable – and highly recognizable – superheroes from all Marvel comics, including Captain America, Iron Man, Wolverine, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Blade, Ghost Rider, Magik, and Nico Minoru. After choosing your character, you’ll battle an equally famous roster of super villains to do what all good superheroes do – protect the innocent.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns was announced in a new trailer that aired during Sumer Game Fest 2022 and will be released on October 7th. It will find its way to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Watch the new theatrical trailer below and see what classic Marvel and X-Men characters you can discover.

The game itself plays similarly to XCOM, offering you a squad of powerful individual characters that navigate a third-person map and defeat groups of hostels in tactical turn-based combat. It will also feature light RPG mechanics as you level up your squad, equipping them with various ability cards and combining their abilities to finish off your enemies.

Throughout the game, you’ll face off against various villains – including Spider-Man progenitor Venom, who appears in the trailer – in a quest to find your way to nemesis Lilith, the mother of demons.

“We’re thrilled to invite players to explore the darker, supernatural side of Marvel,” said Bill Rosemann, vice president and creative director at Marvel Games, in a press release. “In Marvel’s Midnight Suns, our friends at Firaxis and 2K have created an incredibly unique and totally authentic Marvel experience for fans to immerse themselves in this October!”

We can expect to hear more details and get a closer look at the game in action closer to the release date.
