“Tennis changed my life” – Mike Tyson on love for the sport, he taught Serena Williams to box, Novak Djokovic is his favorite player and daughter Milan wants to go pro

Mike Tyson was the “baddest man alive” during his boxing heyday, but he has softened in his later years.

He’s a changed man now, his vegan diet well documented while he’s also developed a love for tennis.

The brutality of boxing is the complete opposite of the subtlety and finesse of tennis, but Tyson is an avid supporter of the sport.

He has regularly attended games at the US Open and Indian Wells over the years, sitting in the front row and cheering for his favorite players.

One of them is Serena Williams and he will no doubt be saddened by her imminent retirement like most fans around the world.

One of the main reasons he developed his love for the game is his daughter Milan.

The 12-year-old is a rising tennis star and has even trained with Serena Williams’ former coach Patrick Mouratoglou.

in one Podcast with the tennis coach, said Mouratoglou: “One of your children, Milan, plays and she is a good tennis player. She is talented and very motivated to turn pro.”

Tyson admitted tennis “changed his life”. He said: “It broadened my horizons and I’m grateful to be able to be there and meet everyone. It changed our lives.

“Our whole life has changed because of tennis. I thought we were doing fine and all we were doing was making money, but that’s no bigger than my daughter who plays tennis.

“She’s bigger than anything in our lives now.

“I see her transition into something she never would have had before if she hadn’t dabbled in tennis.

“She has confidence. At 11/12 she has confidence.”

Tyson also explained that his daughter also has the same mentality that made him world heavyweight champion.

He added: “She’s self-disciplined. She gets up at 7 or 8 every day, cooks her meals, showers and goes to the gym.

“She stays there until 4 p.m. She is very hardworking and she wants to do it.

“I’m very proud to have someone in my family who understands that sometimes things don’t go the way you want them to.

“That’s what life is about, sometimes things don’t go your way and you deal with your situations and adversities.”

Tyson is a huge Williams fan and has even shown her a thing or two about throwing a punch.

On his Instagram account, he posted a video of Williams hitting the sack looking like a pro. Tyson wrote that Williams “has some power.”

Tyson also included a photo with the caption, “I don’t want to get in the ring with that GOAT @Serena Williams lots of love and respect.”

Iron Mike has even weighed in on the biggest debate of all time and is clearly following the sport closely.

In an interview last year, Tyson said: “Novak Djokovic is my favorite at the moment. When he’s doing well, I really enjoy watching him.

“He’s my favorite because the way he came back from injury and beat guys like Nadal and Federer is amazing. He’s a real fighter.”
