Bring some cash for Memorial Day on Monday. One of the attractions that doesn’t accept credit cards is the Friends of Southborough Library’s largest annual fundraiser – our* Heritage Day Book and Bake Sale.

As usual, the friends are offering one free book per child. But this year there’s an extra reason for families with children to stop by. We will set up a children’s table to sell games for children and families/adults and more.

Most are used cautiously and a few are never used. (Click on the image on the right to see an example of some of the items that are being sold.)

Friends of the Library book saleAs always, there is a wide range of fiction and non-fiction, hardcover and paperback, for adults, children and young people. You can also find gently used CDs and DVDs.

The friends also offer their stuff at a bag sale. So if you’ve bought a Friends bag in the past, be sure to bring it with you.

The sale takes place in the library car park directly opposite the main field. The sale is open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Anyone who would like to volunteer to help us out for a shift anytime that day, please email [email protected] (Set-up begins at 9:00 a.m.)

Proceeds from Friends’ fundraisers are used to support library resources and programs not covered by the regular budget. These include most of the Library’s discounted passes to museums and venues, many children’s programs year-round, and programs for adults and young adults.

I would first like to thank the library’s Cook Book Club for volunteering to lead the bake sale at this year’s event. (Anyone else who would like to contribute treats can drop them off this morning.)

*Full disclosure: I am the President of The Friends of the Southborough Library. (We hope to see you at our sale!)
