Packers Week 8 Inactives: Elgton Jenkins (foot) out against Bills

The Green Bay Packers have announced guard Elgton Jenkins (Foot) will continue against the Buffalo Bills Sunday night soccer. This is a new injury for Jenkins, who was listed with only a knee injury in Wednesday and Thursday’s injury reports. Jenkins made his first appearance Friday with a foot injury; The injury was not disclosed at this time.

Earlier this morning we got video of the Packers head coach walking into the locker room with Jenkins after being tested on Buffalo’s turf. Jenkins was considered questionable coming into this matchup.

The good news is Green Bay will have David Bakhtiari (knee), outside linebacker Rashan Gary (concussion) and receiver Christian Watson (hamstring) left for the game. All of these players, like Jenkins, were deemed questionable by the team. Receiver Allen Lazard (shoulder) and cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles (ankle) were ruled out Friday.

Yesterday, the Packers raised safety Innis Gaines and outside linebacker Kobe Jones from the practice squad to the Gameday roster. Jones will be one of four outside linebackers active for the game, alongside Gary, Preston Smith and rookie Kingsley “JJ” Enagbare. For the second straight week, outside linebacker Jonathan Garvin was a healthy scratch. Last week, Garvin, who was active from Week 1 through Week 6, was replaced by La’Darius Hamilton, Green Bay’s practice team’s other pass rusher. Gaines was expected to help out on special teams, where Jean-Charles has played virtually all of his snaps this season.

Tackle Luke Tenuta and defenseman Jonathan Ford, both rookies, were also healthy scratches for the Packers. Neither player has played a snap for Green Bay this season.

The big question now is how the offensive line will reposition itself now that Jenkins is out of the picture. Two weeks ago it was Bakhtiari, Jon Runyan Jr., Josh Myers, Royce Newman and Jenkins (left to right). Last week, with Bakhtiari out, the team went with Zach Tom, Jenkins, Myers, Runyan Jr. and Yosh Nijman (left to right.) The team would play Tom as left guard, knowing he was next man on the tackle position would be if someone leaves the game? Bakhtiari has not played a full game since returning to the team and the grass surface shouldn’t help him much.

The only unhealthy scrape the Bills announced was the right tackle on Spencer Brown. Buffalo has one of the lowest offensive sack rates in the league, so it will be interesting to see how Gary’s chess match with a backup tackle plays tonight.
